David Ono

David Ono mans the anchor desk twice a day on ABC7. You can catch him every weekday evening with long time co-anchor and friend Ellen Leyva from 5 to 6pm. David also handles the anchor duties every midday from 11am to noon.

Ono first joined the "Eyewitness News" team in 1996. Through the years, you've also seen David host the popular magazine show "Eye on LA" and co-anchored "Eyewitness News This Morning".

Ono's reports have included emersion into the FBI. He trained extensively with special agents, then showed Southern California viewers what it takes to be an FBI agent. Similarly, he's trained with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's elite Special Enforcement Bureau, one of the world's toughest SWAT teams. Ono's participation allowed viewers to see the grueling demands of the Sheriff's swat academy.

Other stories have taken him into the jungles of Central America to report on drug runners. He explored secret caves in Belize filled with artifacts from the ancient Maya. And from Paris, David reported on a foiled terrorist plot to bring down the Eiffel Tower. Ono has won eight Emmy awards and 19 nominations.

David's career has included stops in Sacramento at KOVR-TV, El Paso at KDBC-TV, Midland/Odessa at KOSA-TV and Dallas at KXAS-TV.

Ono grew up in Texas and is a graduate of the University of North Texas. He is an avid triathlete sponsored by PowerBar's Team Elite .
